There's absolutely nothing wrong with Parallel SETs, with careful design. There are even some advantages, lower primary impedance being one of them. But if even more headroom is what you are after then consider biasing for A1 but driving into A2 on peaks. It's possible to get get 30W out of a pair of 300Bs this way. Of course you could apply the same to a single OP tube and get half of this if it's enough for your application. My Parallel 845s have been running in this configuration for longer than I care to remember without ever missing a beat!
