I certainly dont find Dons amps to be ugly and or fugly. And honestly dont see how the lighting bolt alone puts them in such a class. Im not a huge fan of the bolt myself but it is growing on me.
What I personally find to be ugly are these amps that have glossy gold, chrome, glitter, mirrors, overgrown flashy tube guards, 5 different visible exterior build materials, so on. I hate loud looking and the ever common "audio jewelry". Im a big fan of the industrial look. I love hammer tone gray too. Cut and dry minimalist I suppose.
But yeah, to each their own. Don even laughs at how some people refer to his amps as the lightening bolt amp. He acknowledges the fact that some dismiss his stuff for the look alone, thats fine to him. If they dont bother to hear it then...
So yeah I guess this is ugly to some.
