To my ears the difference between DHTs and indirectly heated tubes is greater than the difference between SET and PP.

For power - PP 300b. For delicacy, SE 300b or PP2a3. The art is using DHTs as drivers (46, 2a3, 71A, 10Y, 12A, 31, 26) and input tubes (01A, 26, 31, 10Y etc). That's where the real gains are.
