Ha ha! Ol' Doug is saying (between the lines) that he really likes push-pull better than SET, if it's done right. And also that it's rarely done right.

Myself, I agree with the latter, and with his interpretation of "done right" - little or no feedback, triodes, deep class A. I've heard a few of the best, and it really is (to my ear) a big step up from ultralinear pentodes or beam tetrodes in Class AB.

However, I however still prefer single ended triode amps for listening to music. Even more so if they are done right! :^)
