I don't understand why people get "offended" with what they consider low ball offers. Both in selling and buying I like the negotiation part of doing the deal. I will say that doing it over the net loses something from a face to face.
If I see something like "selling because of change in circumstances" I see no reason why I can't make an offer 20 to 40% lower depending on where I think the market is. The counter offer or lack there of is an indicator if it was just a sob story. When I sell and receive the low balls I send back my counter and hear back from only about 10%, but I generally only receive 10 or so emails per ad.
Your ad provided a good example one where I would have sent in what you would call a lowball. Your asking was not much lower than buying from Fi direct. If I had wanted one and you didn't want to negotiate I would just buy a new one.
I have no issues with anyone setting their price and letting the market decide but it amazes me when all these ads say lowballers will be ignored, then are relisted 3 or 4 times.
