The higher output power achieved with the 2a3c tube in comparison to 45 type tubes was not the issue in my preference of the type 2a3c to the 45 type, as I have very efficient horn speakers (108dBV, although with 16 ohms coils) and any 45 tube provides enough power in my system and the extra 2a3c power is not needed.
It is the sound that suited me better in my system - tighter bass and more rhytmical, coherent sound in comparison to the type 45 tubes (even to the EML45 solidplate, which was the best of all 45s in this regard). This may have been a matter of the whole system and my taste, of course, and may not be everyone's preference...
