In my Cary 805 AEs, which take either an 845 or 211 tube (just flip the switch while changing tubes) the 211 has more overall kick and power, BUT the 845 is much better sonically. Better soundstage, and more magical and musical overall. I have used the best of _both_ tube types (NOS RCA, United, 845M, Cetron, etc) and the 845 always sounds better.

Sam Tellig in his Stereophile review liked the 211 better, but he only listened to the factory-provided Chinese tubes, I believe. That is only first-base listening, as far as these amps are concerned.

845 tubes rule.
