Thinking of moving to SET from a PP tube system but not sure what to do with all the options, and if its the right direction for my ears.

Current System:
VMPS 626R
ASL 1003 DT
Quad 989 CDP - has built in Pre

Music Preference: Rock, Some Electronic Pop, Jazz, Beginning to dig some classical.

Budget: $3,000 for amp and speakers - will go used.

Wanting: That last bit of emotion in voices, musical pieces twisting the tone and immediacy up and down that really moves you twists your emotions. I heard it one time on a Cary SET amp with big B&W's. Problem with the system was it lost most other details pretty badly and too smooth of highs. Now I will sacrafice some detail, but I have to have that PRAT in the mid bass, and I hate too rolled off highs that many Cary products give. I have heard an expensive 300B from Sonic Frontiers, liked it but a little too should I say "technicolor sound" pieces seemed to should I say jump out too much and images were almost moving. So probobly another tube would mate me beside 300b. Im really looking for a quite warm euphonic sound, with aggession, pace, and midrange emotion.

Dilema: Don't know if I should stick with my VMPS and try higher powered PP amps, or trade them out and try out Zu's Druid, or another SET friendly speaker with some SET amps. Suggestions?
