I won't comment on that video, but that type of trap has nothing to do with the wood panel bass traps on my personal site. But fiberglass traps are better anyway for most smaller rooms.
1) Corner bass traps work better with a paper or thin plastic face. Either of those materials are fine when spray-glued to the fiberglass. Do not use any facing for panels at reflection points.
2) No, the (microscopically thin) foil is for blocking moisture and has no relevance for acoustics.
3) Yes, that's fine.
4) For traps mounted straddling a corner, the sides of the traps should touch the walls. There's an inherent gap that way, and no further gap is needed or useful.
