The absorption coefficient of carpet on concrete are

125 Hz - 0.02
250 Hz - 0.06
500 Hz - 0.14
1000 Hz - 0.37
2000 Hz - 0.60
4000 Hz - 0.65

Using more carpet will lower reverberation time, but it will have little effect on frequencies below 1000 Hz.
