Do closets act as bass traps?

My room has a basic rectangular floor plan (12x16) and a sloped ceiling that starts at a height of 8' behind my speakers and slopes up to about 22' at my back wall. The room has two closets in the corners of the back wall (behind my listening position). The closets are identical in shape and volume.

If I were to leave them open during listening, would they help smooth out or reduce my bass?
