I assumed that would be the answer but remember hearing before not to have anything behind the speakers if possible. Ideally I suppose creating a space in the wall would be best and also possible, just a lot of work.

That being said eventually I'd like to finish my basement, it would mean lower ceilings, 7 foot compared to 8 but the width would only be a foot less and I could go longer if needed.
