My two channel listening room is very close to that size at 15'(L) X 13'(W) X 10'(H). This is my sixth different listening room and by far the smallest. My speakers are set up on the short wall firing into the long dimension of the room.
Initially the room presented some problems, but when I implemented bass traps in all four corners and broadband, first reflection absorbtion panels on the front, side and rear walls, it became the most enjoyable listening environment I have ever had. I think it will sound even better once I get around to addressing the ceiling first reflection points.
I can't comment on how it would work for a surround system.
I have a solid door as well, but it is on the short wall in the right rear corner, behind the listening position. This location works really well because it doesn't interfere with any of the first reflection wall panels. However, there is adequate space on the long walls to accomodate a door between the wall panels and the front and rear corners.
A room this small takes some work, but can be made to sound quite wonderful. Best of luck with your project.
Brian
