Don't remember the product.The idea comes from an approach called "Ambiphonics" or "Ambiophonics" or something like that. Haven't tried the approach but you could try searching on the web for info about it. You may find some useful info there.
Should be easy to duplicate the idea but it could be fun. You simply want to build a good, effective absorbing panel to place in the appropriate location. If you can't make a single panel effective enough, try making a second and placing them side by side with an air gap of 4-8" between them.
Edit: If making a panel, do not use a limp membrane on one side as recommended in some recipes for DIY panels. Limp membranes improve bass absorption but are more reflective at mid and high frequencies than the bare absorption material. You want both sides to be identical so you don't want a limp membrane on one side and not the other, and you want to absorb as wide a bandwidth as possible including into the mid and high frequencies, probably particularly into those frequencies, so use of limp membranes is likely to be counterproductive.
