And while you're asking questions, are you absolutely certain that your current speaker manufacturer's recommendations for placement of his speakers are absolutely spot on for best results? I have no doubt that the manufuacturer's recommendation will work well, but it may not be the best option, especially if you're more interested in bass response than imaging or vice versa and the manufacturer was more interested in the other when they they made their recommendation.
Absorptive panels work best when spaced out from the wall a bit. You could use a sliding track but keeping 4-8" space behind the panels could be difficult if you go with a track. A floor stand with feet that stick out 4-8" behind the panel is a good option and the foot extension to the rear allows you to push the stand up against the wall and keep the precise spacing you prefer.
