Otherwise known as "shredded newspaper" is treated to be fire-resistant / retardant. I would'nt worry about that aspect. The other advantage is that it's a "green" product that insulates slightly better than fiberglass and fills cavities much better than fiberglass batts.
A 5 1/2" (2x6 construction) cavity yields R-19 with fiberglass, the same cavity yields R21 with cellulose. It's also rteated with Borax to make it insect proof, from what I remember, fiberglass is insect neutral.
