Oh yes, it does!

Everest, "Master Handbook of Acoustics", 4th Edition 2001, p.406 (Control of modal resonances):

"The modes that have nulls at a loudspeaker location cannot be energized, but those having partial or full maxima at this location will be energized proportionally."

In order to energize ALL modes at maximum strength, if you prefer, you have to place the speakers in a corner.
