This is a general question at the moment, but later on could become specific.
I have to move my set-up because of WAF, and have a chance to improve my room. I am going to build a wall which will be behind the speakers, and am thinking of putting up "acoustic walls".
I can build this room either completely closed in or leave open spaces. The house has 9 foot ceilings, and the walls at the moment only come up to about 8 feet to allow for air circulation.
What would the effect be of building my wall only 8 feet up and leaving the space open behind it? Would it be better to fill it in all the way up, or can I leave that one foot opening? What about the side walls-Should I leave an open space at the top, or fill it in?
A related question would be at the listening end. I could close it off or leave it completely open. I know these questions are generalities, but right now that's what I need. What are the overall effects of having openings in the room? Is is good or bad? The speakers are Infinity RS1b's, so fire in both directions for the mid/tweeter towers, but are conventional speakers at the bass towers. The towers are 5 feet high.
All responses are appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
