My head ends up roughly 2 feet off the back wall-- so that's awfully close to any absorption stuff. I think that's roughly the distance under which AP people say you dont need no absorption owing to your extreme proximity to the wall and your brains resultant inability to locate reflection info or some such thing in such short wavelengths (or words to that effect-- I clearly have limited knowledge in this area).

Perhaps I could though try either some realtraps in the front corners or Gik Tri-traps or something. There seems to be near universal agreement that some bass absorbers like those will be effective in nearly any room.
