Okay, I originally was an Audio Physics long wall follower, then moved to a another apartment and went short wall with Ethan's model. Know what? Both worked well for their respective rooms.

Now though, I just went long wall again and do prefer this method, although with Spendor 1/2e monitors the near field positioning is a bonus. However, I found treating the reflection point in back of my head, which sits 3' from the back wall helps out quite a bit too.

So I vote for long wall and absorption.
