Seriously, peaks and nulls called comb filtering are always worst right in front of a reflecting boundary. If your couch is right up against that wall you indeed do need absorption there. But you need true broadband absorption, not a panel meant as a bass trap.

Yes, but side wall reflections are trivial to deal with using relatively thin panels. Versus the severe problems you have now being right in front of a wall, with peaks and nulls down into the mid-bass range. Do yourself a favor and skip the overpriced speaker wire nonsense. The only people who benefit from $500 wires are those who sell them. Put the money into bass traps and other acoustic treatment, which will actually make a real difference for the better.
