Well, in this particular case, which is comb filter coloration with music listening, the question is not half full/half empty. There is simply no evidence that backs up the claims and the evidence which is available strongly suggests that this issue is a non-issue.

Spatial impression is another topic altogether. Your case is particular as it is a case of extreme asymmetry (if I remember correctly). This case is not ruled out by the available evidence.

If you read the relevant chapters of Everest you will see that he does not condemn reflections and being bad, no matter what, and have to be removed. Everest says that, according to Toole & Olive, you can use lateral reflections for modifying spatial impression which makes treatment of reflections in the median plane necessary. This is a different approach from the very outset. Toole basically uses the same approach in his 2006 AES paper.
