Many of the Rives rooms have a curved reflector (is this what it is?) on the front wall between the speakers.
What is the intent of this?
Does the radius matter, and if so how is the optimum calculated?
Is the free space behind it stuffed or empty?
Should it be floor to ceiling?
Should it be thick or thin, and what material have people used to do this?
Is this preferable to a central absorber, and if so, why?
Anyone have without and with listening contrasts to share?
I have a dedicated room and have been playing musical room treatments for optimization. Currently I have two Double Busters (by Echobusters) on the wall behind the speaker, with the lateral edge of each on the wall where the inside edge of the speaker falls (by siting an imaginary line to the wall). These have curved membranes in them reminiscent Rives. Wondering if I should try the Rives technique.
Thanks for any input, Steve
