I'm building a Mastering room and Post room with VO booth right now. A Mastering room is just like a 2/surround listening room just with extra features.
Since this was a Professional studio, Chris Huston of Rives was called to do the design. He came out to visit and asked me lots of questions about what I had envisioned and what I wanted to accomplish. Having a designer is a great start because they can be contacted whenever your contractor or yourself has a question. This part is very imperative. I also contacted other designers and chose Rives because I had heard other Rives designed rooms. I tried:Walters/Storyk http://www.wsdg.com/
Russ Berger http://www.rbdg.com/home/index.php
Pilchner http://www.pilchner-schoustal.com/
Studio Pacifica http://www.studiopacifica.com/I'm sure there are others. I really lucked out since my contractors are actually musicians. They understood about acoustics and decoupling. I can't say enough about Chris and Richard. This have been a major undertaking and they were receptive even with all my changes!
Regards,
Bruce
