Even though I don't know who/what it is you audition, any floor for most applications can be made workable depending on what else you have in the room (drapes, windows, type and amount of furniture, area rugs, people etc). Your typical untreated and unfurnished room tends to be echoey. Carpet pad plus carpet would help in this instance.
