Hello,Richard at Rives suggested I post here. Thank you all in advance for any assistance.
I will be using approximately $2k to purchase speakers for a 5.1 system in the near future. I already have a subwoofer and will be replacing a mixture of Paradigm Reference (Studio 20 v1) and standard Paradigms (Titan v2 / CC180).
The nature of my problem is that the room in which the system will reside has open corners (leading to other rooms), and only a partial front wall (partially open stairs). This creates a situation where one of the front speakers will have a full wall behind it, and the other is largely open.
I attemtped to draw it in ascii below (front wall to right, periods represent floor). It's not very good. I also have a .bmp from Better Homes & Garden's Home Design, but no way to post it.

|------------Left front has full wall. Right front 1/3 of a wall. Note left fron corner also open along left wall, whereas right front corner open along back wall only.
The plan is for purchasing 4 matching tower speakers and a center. I'm looking for:
1) Recommendations on speakers...specifically regarding porting(front/rear/sealed)
2) Go nuts with room suggestions, but I likely will not be able to do much about this...I've been thinking that front ported or sealed enclosures. The ones I've been eyeing are:
1) KEF iQ5 + iQ6c
2) Aperion 533-T + 533-VAC
3) Phase Tech V10 + V6Any suggestions regarding online retailers is also welcome.
Thanks,
J
