My former listening room was 12'x10'x8'H and the intimacy and depth of soundstage was excellent. I've been forced to move to the LR now and i'm at whits end. The LR is 20'x14' with a cathedral ceiling. The ceiling starts at 8' and rises to a max height of 11-1/2'. Walls and ceiling are drywall over stud contruction. Floor is ceramic tile with large rug in the center of room. The speakers sit along the long wall as does my seating position. The woofers are 31-1/4" from the wall behind them. The distance between speakers is 90". My listening position is within 1' of the wall behind me. Seating and speaker distance into room can't change by much at all. I sit on a large couch of which the back is higher than my ears. The room also consist of a fabric recliner and a loveseat. Obviously; the ceiling is higher over the right speaker by several feet. Will this hurt sounstaging? A 37" plasma tv on a small stand sits directly between speakers. The tv is against the wall as much as possible. My biggest complaints are lack of intimacy and soundstage depth. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
