Wanted to get the opinions of the folks here of an idea I have for some bass traps. As you can see above, I've already built some flat 2'x7'x6" bass traps using OC703, also eight 2'x4'x4" wall panels for first reflections.I put these together while I was running mono pole speakers, in a 11/6 x 15/6 x 8 room, but they are still unfinished sitting as you see them, in the attic. The room has a slight 45-degree cut at the wall/ceiling transition, thus the 7' trap height, instead of a full 8'.
I've since changed to Magnepan MMGs, and want to do something different. The 25-1/2" wide, 6" deep bass traps would have been big for the room to begin with, and would of encroach into the swing area of doors on the front and side walls.
So I thinking of going the "super chunk" route, but with a smaller 16" x 16" back side length, and a rounded front facing side, with some sort of reflective material added, similar to how ASC adds reflectiveness to their tube traps. Think of a pie cut in quarter slices. Will I get close to the same bass trapping performance as using the above panels (which are close to the size of the Magnepan MG20.1 models!). And what can I stick onto the 703 to add reflectiveness, that can bend along the curve, if I go that route?
