I'm having an intermittent problem with one of my 3 older Delta 100 amps. One amplifier is driving a pair of Peerless XLS 12" subwoofers in stereo (8 Ohm nominal impedance, minimal impedance 4.7 Ohms). The source is fed through a Behringer DCX2496 x-over, lowpass to this amplifier at 120 hz and bandpass/highpass to the other two that are vertically bi-amping my main speakers (Martin Logan Aeon). This amp in question has an intermittent buzzing sound that comes on at certain times, starting fairly low in volume and then increasing, until I fearfully shut it down. If the amplifier is shut off and left to cool down it tends to work fine for an hour or more.
I have the schematics and a fairly good technician here in Toronto, that worked on the amplifier for me a couple years ago when it was doing the same thing but constantly.
Any pointers on what the problem might be? Is this amplifier worth repairing again for $200-300 CAD?
