if this does work, i may be killed...

... by the round table of top high-end power cord sellers!!

now seriously, i'm thinking of this tweak to a top quality
power cord, like the PS one, for instance:

instead of pluging, say, 3 components (i.e. transport,
dac and preamp), through 3 cords to a top quality strip,
you can buy just 1 cord, plug it directly to the wall
socket, and add 2 more IEC female at the right distances
(by opening the cable twice, and soldering 2 or 3 inches of a
set of 3 wires to it, each set terminated in a IEC female);
so you can plug the original IEC to the higher component
(assuming they are placed on a rack), and the two additional
ones to the middle and the last; in this way you save
2 cords and 1 strip

OBJECTION #1: no way!, as the current taken by the component
which is placed nearer to the wall socket will negatively
affect the current which is "left" for the other 2

REPLY: if this were right, then exactly the same situation
is taking place with the original strip: the current taken
by the plug of the component nearer the input of the strip
will negatively affect the current left for the the other 2

OBJECTION #2: no way!, as by adding the two sets of inferior
wires you may be losing the benefits of the top cord

REPLY: well, why not using exactly the same original cord;
all you have to do is buying 1 or 2 more feet of it, cut
it and then proceed with the tweak

is this tweak feasible? i assure you i'm going to try it,
UNLESS my reasoning may be severely flawed due to a lack of
expertise or of basic theoretical info, so what do you think?

best, paco
