This is the #1 reason I got an LCD instead of a plasma. My 46" Samsung draws about 130 watts. Not only do I use a lot less power, but my A/C doesn't need to run as much (I'm in central Florida). BTW, did you actually test the power consumption or is that just the rating?

It's your imagination. The heat is determined by the amount of power the TV is using. Unless it's using less power with the new cord, which wouldn't make any sense, then it's not running any cooler. I don't know about plasmas, but when I checked the power consumption of my LCD, it varied based on picture brightness. If that's true of plasmas, then the difference you saw could just be a difference in picture settings or program material.
