Power cords for plasma tv's

I've upgraded the oem power cord for a 42" samsung plasma tv. The oem cord was only 18 gauge and the tv draws about 350 watts. I've upgraded to a tributaries 10 gauge helix type power cord 9 foot long. with this upgrade the operating temperature of the tv seems to have dropped about 15 degress or more(not sure how much, I haven't recorded the temp before and after yet). Is this just my imagination or does the increase in gauge actually help the heat performance of the tv?
