Hey Paul/et al.,I am trying to troubleshoot an output voltage oscillation issue on a Power Plant P600 and noticed that U6 on the main PCB is running hot as a firecracker!! The heatsink for U6 is too hot to touch for even a second which tells me the IC, which is a Motorola LM 317T positive voltage regulator, itself has to be blazing hot!!
Could U6 be the cause of the output voltage oscillation and is it normal for U6 to be running this hot and if not, what would be the most likely suspect components(s) causing it to run this hot?
Just for reference, the oscillation is only on one side of the output and slowly oscillates between 59.20VAC and 59.27VAC in SIN mode with 118 volts selected and also oscillates in all the other modes and voltages as well. The other output side is rock solid at 59.43VAC.
Thanks in advance,
~kenster
