Paul-
Thank you for your kind and reassuring post. I mentioned the cancer diagnosis and scary prognosis only to explain the unintended shrill tone of my first posts. It is interesting to me that I should under the circumstances still care so much about the sound of my stereo system. I guess I actually am an audiophile.
To clarify an apparent point of confusion: neither amp is modified by anyone, other than some tweaks to both, by myself, in the form of very minimal application of small pieces of ERS cloth, appropriate (but sparing) application of Marigo dots, and the installation of Verastarr damping material to the sheet metal, especially the lid.
As I understand it, the issue is that I purchased two amps, each sold by a different authorized dealer at the time, each represented as a (stock) PS Audio Trio A100. The intention, of course was/is to biamp,so the amps should be identical.
The first A100 (TA1-B-8B002), I bought from Cullen. It sounds wonderful to me. When I returned to Cullen for a second A100, they advised they were sold out. So, I bought one from "Mr. Cable" (TA1-B-7C019). As I concluded tweaking the "Mr. Cable", I observed some differences between the insides of the two amps. When I hooked it up, the "Mr. Cable" was audibly different in sound, not as good as the Cullen. In fact, I must say I not only prefer the Cullen to the "Mr.Cable", I prefer the Cullen by itself, over both amps biwired.
I don't know how to send you pictures over this website, but if you will provide me with the appropriate email address I will send pictures, if you wish.
Sincerely, george
