I would go with the P500 for two reasons: the first you already know is form factor. The second is load ability. In the end, you'll be able to handle more equipment with less stress on the regenerator than you can with a P300.

The turntable question - yes, you could use either device with the MWII software installed to control your turntable and eliminate the device they have now.
