I suppose you could polish off the gold plate if would like, I would suggest first listening to the fuses before doing so. Without any plating, it will be necessary to occasionally remove the fuses and re-polish them, as copper surfaces oxidise quite rapidly when in contact with the air, and oxidised copper is a very poor conductor.
We have not ever had a single customer who did not think the Critical Link fuses offered a significant improvement in performance.
