Skytag,

First, how sad for you for your cynicism has taken over your life. If you are so dissatisfied with what is an excellent company and an excellent product, why are you here, writing and involving yourself with PS Audio? Why not just go off and enjoy Monster, Richard Gray’s Power Company, or some other company? Really, it’s too bad, and quite frankly, saddens me when I see this type of cynical belief pattern.

And, yes, they do treat their customers far better than any other mfr I have ever been associated with as a customer, with the exception of MESA Engineering, and do consider their customers as part of a family. If you can't deal with that, then go off and do your own thing. Don't destroy what is otherwise an outstanding firm. An attitude such as that displayed will naturally be put off. A spoon full of sugar does help the medicine go down. Or, in other words – mellow out.

I have owned a Duet now for almost a year. Early on, it would shut down periodically when the voltage hit above 125-126 volts, as shown on my PPP display. Subsequently, they amended the over voltage to kick in around 135 volts with a new power cartridge, which they provided for free. How many mfrs would use that as a basis for charging another $100 or more to “upgrade” your unit to the current production model? Plenty. Not PS Audio. In my system, the Duet has acquitted itself with a great deal of sonic, and visual, improvement, as has both of my PPP’s.

PS Audio does not go out of its way to try to keep information from you. In fact, they believe strongly in the audio and video aspect - does it improve your system, yes or no, as opposed to just posting specs or the sake of specs. They did not post the GCA/GCC specs for a long time, as folks tend to worry about distortion levels over sonics. There are many spec toting folks who wouldn’t give a superb amp the chance because it has .03% distortion instead of .01%. To those, I say, go enjoy Stereo Review. Specs are only a small part of the equation, a starting point only. If you ask, and ask without being cynical, I am sure that someone will answer your questions. I do know that the filtering specifications and other information about the Duet and Quintet have been widely discussed on PS Audio’s own website forum.

Frankly, if you are that cynical (how sad for you), I would prefer you find another message board to frequent. This one has no place for you. Objective discussion without finger pointing is what it is all about. If you don’t wish to include yourself in that, then please, don’t destroy something the rest of us wish to enjoy and partake in.

I have known Paul for quite a number of years now and he, and his company, are above board and have a long, long, long standing reputation in the world of high end audio, and deservedly so, for offering products at very reasonable prices that kick the snot out of many top level brand names, are designed and manufactured exceptionally well, and for their exemplary customer service. Perhaps, if you acted like a mature adult, instead of attacking someone (including myself), you might find a lot more support coming your way. And, a great many more friends.

Best,

Odd
