Oz,

Yes it is until you study the new design and see just what efficiency PS Audio has been able to devise with the new technology. Amazing efficiency. Similar to how much more efficient class D amplification is over analog class A and AB designs in amps. If you have not done so, go into PS Audio's website to study up on how the new technology works. The P1000, P600 and P300 all are basically large class AB amps. I am not certain what technology was used in the P500, as it was different and I did not own the unit, having already owned the P600. I know the P500 did not do as well no larger amps as the 600 did. Certainly, my 600 could power my system with ease. However, it did get hot, and I do mean HOT when run hard and on warm days here in Southern California. Since the 600 and 1000 both share the same heat sink platform, expect the 1000 to run quite warm to hot, even with the massive heatsinks on it. One thing about the 600 and 1000 is that they are real conversation pieces. Beautiful to behold. Heavy as all heck, to move. I wrenched my back out more than once moving my 600 to clean connections, dust, etc. Freakin' massive. The PPP is relatively light in comparison, so it is much easier to move around. My back is so much happier these days!

Best,

Odd
