Hi, Oz. The PPP can handle up to 1500 watts (USA) where the P1000 is pretty close to the rated 1,000. My P600 could handle up to 720 watts, I know.

I am running my GCA500 and all analog stuff off one of my two PPP's and it just kicks! No apparent truncating of dynamic slam at high levels.

It will, after a while, with high power usage turn on its fan automatically. So far, I have never heard the fan on the analog side go on, and then only the low speed which is almost inaudible, except when I had my TV, surround receiver, amp and preamp on all at the same time and on high impact volume movies. That is a serious draw. My PPP powering my digital gear has never had the fan go on.

I believe I have heard the analog PPP's fan go on low speed maybe three times. If I power only my Preamp/High current power supply and GCA500 amp for audio only, the fan has never come on even on the most power demanding musical segments.

There are pro's and con's to the PPP vs. P1000 power plants so you have to consider that. One thing the P1000 does not have is a fan to cool the DAC section of the plant like the PPP does.

In the modified form by Rick Cullen, adding among so many other things, a remote controlled operation, the P1000 is a great choice for all but the most huge (ala Krell) amps, perhaps. However, it is not efficient like the PPP is, so your power bills would be higher. The PPP is so doggoned efficient that my power bill went down about $20/month after I sold my P600 and bought two PPP's. My system is on all the time, so this made a big difference. And, as I said, in my system, the PPP's do not restrict dynamics in any sense. They are remarkable in terms of the musicality of my system. Love 'em, actually.

Best,

Odd
