Ozzy,
Depends on how many watts the amp draws. You can probably find a used P1000 in great shape and have Rick Cullen mod it for a decent price. You'll love it, I am sure. You'd need to run it in either tube wave or standard 60 hz settings due to a tube amp.
Rick's mods bring the performance of the P1000 to about the same level as the PPP. He doubles the power supply capacitance and uses the gold standard capacitors which are much, much better than stock caps, plus many other changes to improve its performance dramatically. Since Rick built the power plants for PS Audio, he knows the unit inside and out.
I can vouch for Rick's mods as can anyone who has had one done. My completely modified GCA 500 is stunning and the workmanship is 5 star.
The biggest issue will be the amp's power draw. If it is around 600 watts or so to maybe 800, the P1000 will do just dandy. I ran my MESA Engineering Baron tube amp off my P600 (stock) with outstanding results. I have not run it off either of my two PPP's simply due to the fact I love my modified GCA 500 so much, and the MESA is tucked away in its box.
If you have never experienced what a Power Plant can do for your system. Well, let's just say you'll smile. A lot. I have owned them since PS Audio first released the P300 back in the late 1990's, then the P600 and now two PPP's. I have never stopped smiling at what they do, so very, very well.
Enjoy.
