I don't think it's a function of the subject. I get a fair amount of e-mail from my customers in reference to a variety of issues and two people will write messages with very different tones about the exact same issue, with no prior communication from me. It's just a difference in how each of us sees the world and other people, and how we interact with people. Some people are quicker than others to think you're doing something unfair or underhanded. If you've been or nearly been a victim of unscrupulous companies or people, or deal with discrimination on a regular basis you would probably be more likely to do that. I'm kind of like that myself because of past experiences, but I try to temper it a bit because I know from a *different* set of experiences that even though you're sitting there waiting for a response, the person at the other end could be in any of an infinite number of situations other than sitting at his keyboard able to write you a response. And that's assuming he's actually seen your question, which isn't even always the case. So I try to be patient...up to a point.
In this case I believe you hadn't posted anything between the time he asked his first question and when he posted his less-than-polite followup. Given that, my assumption would have been that you were busy and hadn't had a chance to see his first post or post a response. After all, it's not like you post here every day anyway. Had you been posting responses to other people and not this person then I'd have been a little more suspicious of your motives. ;-)
Thanks for the thanks, BTW. :-)
