It's good to see that your repair was an easy fix, however, you did change 2 variables here, you can in no way attribute the effect of the wire change as the cause of the changes believed to have occured, especially as a bad cap is a pretty huge problem in itself. Only way to know what the wire change did, if anything, is to put the stock stuff back in or maybe compare your amp to a stock amp....
