Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

RE: Is there anyone here who can muster a hypothesis for why the ground loop on speaker wires works?

Not from an electro-acoustic standpoint but if an amplifier were marginally stable and prone to being tickled by a local radio station (then possibly introducing an effect on music) then a "drain wire" as it would be here could be beneficial.
Amplifiers generally have a small inductor, sometimes wound on a big resistor to de-couple the output stage from the output terminals at high (like radio) frequencies.
Best,
Tom
