I'm not sure how the effects would manifest themselves.. Perhaps some kind of heat transport mechanism in one direction of current, and then most of the heat returning when current reverses..I wouldn't expect 100 percent efficiency in both directions, so any losses would show as distortion.

At audio frequencies, any heat transport would be limited to perhaps 10 to 100 microinches (that's a WAG for sure) because of the thermal diffusivity involved. But that would be the range of a lot of platings..and definitely the copper tin intermetallic layers of the solder joints, if any.

That's why I'm interested in eliminating any other potential error sources.
