Number 3 result from blind audition that you forgot to list

3. Differences "heard" during a sighted audition that were claimed to be "so HUGE even the wife could hear them", were nothing more than figments of an audiophile's overactive imagination

The single blind methodology is most useful for audiophiles.
Double-blind is too much trouble and ABX switchboxes are wauy too expensive.

For example, I tell an audio salesman that I want to audition
amplifier A and amplifier B. I ask NOT to be told which one is playing. Then I take off my eyeglasses so I can't possibly see
which amplifier is playing ... and I focus on the sound quality.
While both amplifiers will not be playing at exactly the same volume,
the time delay required to swap cables will reduce the chance that
a small SPL difference would affect my preference. So I would have turned an ordinary sighted audition ... into a single-blind audition with almost no effeort on my part ... although the salesman may have difficulty keeping quiet!
