I'm sorry about that appeal to authority, I hate doing it, but it seems the default mode of argument here when one's position becomes untenable is to immediately denigrate the other's character and make some accusation of lack of knowledge or experience. As such was starting to happen already along with some ad hominems, I felt pressed into identifying that I did have some knowledge and experience in the area. I'm not sure how to address this failing of character when in argument whether it should be dealt with by essentially listing every damned bit of experience and knowledge one has to their name in the profiles or everyone having no profiles at all.
Oh, the Shakespeare bit was in reference to Geoff Kait thinking himself Kenneth Branagh the other day in the Isolation Ward. Evidently, he believes that those not into his tweaks are an adversary that must be conquered and oppressed rather than treated as equals. As for "brevity is the soul of wit", I should've laid claim to that quote considering Polonius, the one who spoke it, was very long winded in most everything he said and the humor in that phrase came in that he uttered it. That's Shakespeare's humor for ya, having a character waste a great amount of rhetoric to denounce those who waste a great amount of rhetoric. ("Troilus and Cressida" is so full of similar ironies/hypocrisies that it's a depressing read.)

The others would be correct as everything, absolutely everything, is biased by some sort. We do not sense anything in the world, we merely perceive through our preestablished schemas for interpreting that sensory input and results of reasoning. The problem is people thinking that they can actually perceive anything unbiased and that any results they might have can be considered applicable to others without any external, objective reference the parties involved can agree upon to reduce the effects of bias. Too many egos are tied up into their perceptual beliefs to allow that to happen around here without a great deal of pain and suffering.

Indeed, but this all we have to any degree of convenience. If only we could just discuss these matters over a pitcher of beer, then something might come of it as the insults hurled around here without a second thought wouldn't be uttered in such a setting out of fear of receiving a bloodied nose.
