AJ, you cannot deal with a troll by being a troll. Questioning someone else's intelligence and such based purely on their vocation is a poor means to argument. I understand that Scott is a movie makeup person, maybe he does a good job of it. Surely he has to be better than that hack who did the pathetic makeup job and airbrushed abs in 300 (used as an example as I watched it again this past weekend, other than that, the visuals did a good job capturing the graphic novel feel).
If you look back through Scott's posts in PHP, you'll see a large percentage of them are nothing more than various ways to insult anyone who does not agree with him or whose position he does not agree with. He appears to just be one of those individuals who ties his self-esteem not into any personal efficacy, but by attempting to pose himself as superior to others around him. That kind of personality will not be swayed by insulting in kind (none is except those victimized by such an approach and that is tasteless) and all that will happen is continued shouting matches where actual discussion is side tracked by name calling.
I do ask that you please just try to ignore him and any similarly insulting posts from others who cannot tolerate an "objectivistic" position in PHP. All it is doing is scaring away people who might have something good to add, as it is mostly those who love the opportunity to insult who will readily participate in such an atmosphere, who might bring up good counterpoints from a reasoned and not emotional perspective.
You cannot deal with a troll by being a troll, it only undermines the kind of position you seem to be attempting to establish as equal to the "subjectivist" position when you drop to their level with mindless abuse. All that is doing is deepening the schism between the two perspectives that is already nearly uncrossable and that has driven many more reasonable objectivists and those subjectivists without their ego tied to their ideology away from the forum altogether. All it does is damage the hobby that many of us treat as an escape from the conflicts of real life.
