That complete definition as I copied it is the same as in the latest printing of the Oxford dictionary. It is not from an earlier time, it is the definition of the word as defined by the most authoritative dictionary of the English language. I was simply providing the more accurate definition to carcass93's quoting of the simplified version intended just for casual use rather than etymological discussion as was instigated by the comments of how "objectivists" somehow did not know the actual definition as shown in carcass93's post title: "Do they have even slightest idea what "empirical" means?"
