PS doesn't make the argument, but some published research makes the case that common-mode chokes and line filters aren't completely effective at eliminating AC line RFI, even if they are cascaded. No question that they're effective, and I use them, too; no reason not to when they're built right into the socket for the power cord IMO. That doesn't necessarily mean that attenuation of RFI on the AC line before it gets to that filter would have no effect.
Nowhere have I suggested the PS Audio device works; that's exactly what I will test within the limits of my equipment (i.e., up to about 20 mHz or so) if someone comes up with a schematic. Then we'll all know if it's the bunkum it seems like it could be; if OTOH it works, we can start implementing it directly into the stuff we build. No harm in indulging in my curiosity, right?
