Finally got time to pursue your interesting post. I would indeed like the PDF's if you wouldn't mind sending them. I want to see what topology Self used.
I dug out some ancient transistor references this morning and I see where you are coming from, but I'm not quite on board yet. If it were safe to ignore everything but the emitter characteristics then I think more bias current would always produce a more uniform output impedance as it approaches the limit imposed by the emitter resistors.
I did a spreadsheet model of that today but just as I was getting it normalized to send to you my laptop crashed and took it away. However the bottom line is that the Io in the denominator drives that result. But I don't think the rest of the device can be ignored, junction transistors are not all that unilateral.
Another fun thing is the vagueness of "class AB". A lot of disparate topologies fall into that category and likely have different audible artifacts. That's why I'm curious what Self was using.
